Past neglect left Dehra behind, Now Sukhu govt will ensure development: Kamlesh Thakur

Due to past neglect, the Dehra Assembly constituency has lagged significantly in terms of development. However, the state government, led by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, is now focused on giving Dehra the attention it deserves by prioritizing its development. Addressing the public in Gram Panchayat Gathutar on Wednesday, local MLA Kamlesh Thakur expressed confidence that Dehra’s needs and issues, which were previously overlooked, will now be addressed seriously. She added that Dehra will soon emerge as a model assembly constituency in the state.

Kamlesh Thakur revealed that Chief Minister Sukhu has already approved development projects worth over 200 crore rupees for the Dehra constituency in just three months. She also shared that the government has instructed local administration to create a land bank in Dehra. Further, guidelines have been provided for the construction of key infrastructure projects, including a circuit house, an indoor stadium, an SP office, a critical care unit at Dehra Hospital, and circle offices for the Public Works, Water Power, and Electricity Departments.

In addition, the government is working on projects to underground power lines, construct roads, and maximize the use of water resources. Thakur noted that the government is also focused on developing Kangra district as the state’s tourism hub, with several important projects proposed for Dehra. The construction of the zoological park in Bankhandi is progressing rapidly, and efforts are underway to boost tourism around Pong Dam.

Public Grievances Addressed

During her visit to Gathutar, the MLA interacted with local residents, listened to their concerns, and resolved most issues on the spot. For unresolved matters, she directed officials to ensure timely solutions. The local community warmly welcomed the MLA, and the Panchayat Pradhan thanked her, noting that approximately 25 lakh rupees have been approved for development in Gathutar Panchayat.
