Orange Alert Issued for Heavy Rains in Himachal

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh for two days. According to the department, heavy rains are expected in many areas of the state.

Orange Alert for Rain in Himachal

Shimla: The monsoon has arrived in Himachal Pradesh. Despite this, many areas are yet to receive rain. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh for next two days. The weather is expected to remain unfavorable in the state until July 6.

Notably, an orange alert was also issued yesterday. However, only a few places received rain: 11 mm in Kangra, 1 mm in Sundarnagar, 0.4 mm in Dharamshala, and 2 mm in Barthi. Light rain was recorded at some locations in the state over the past 24 hours, including 4 mm in Paonta Sahib, 2 mm in Dharamshala, and 2 mm in Kasauli. Other areas such as Shimla Aero, Bharari, Jogindernagar, Kangra Aero, Dharamshala AWS, Dharampur, Mandi, Aghar, and Sarkaghat received around 1 mm of rain. An orange alert for rain remains in effect today, with overcast skies in Shimla since morning.

Surendra Pal, the Director of the Meteorological Department, stated that the orange alert has been issued for heavy rain in the state. Heavy rains are anticipated in many parts during this period. The weather is expected to remain unfavorable until July 7. While the monsoon has commenced, heavy rains have not yet been widespread. However, the monsoon is expected to gain momentum in the coming days, bringing more rain to most parts of the state.

The Meteorological Department has advised that heavy rains are likely in several areas of Himachal Pradesh over the next two days.
