Opposition Congress party stages a protest in the well of the house, Walkout in the question hours
Opposition Congress staged a protest in the well of the house for 46 minutes on the third day of Winter Session and after disrupting the proceedings they staged walk-out from the house during the question hours.
As the house assembled for winter session on Monday after weekly break today ,Congress Member, Ram Lal Thakur raised the adjournment motion seeking discussion on the issues like backdoor recruitments, regularisation of outsource employees and policy of employment on the compassionate ground.
Speaker Vipin Singh Parmar said that he had received a notice of adjournment from Congress Member Ram Lal Thakur and others Members but he rejected the notice as there was a provision to allow discussion on the more than one issue under a notice.
The speaker said that such notice could not be allowed and this agitated the Congress MLAs and they came into the well of the house.
After Protesting in the well of the house for 46 minutes, they walked out of the house when there were 15 minutes left for the question hours.
The state assembly which is known for dignified protest and high decorum during the proceeding witnessed some bitter moments when Congress Members not only raised slogans but questioned the absence of Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur from the Winter Session.
However, the speaker tried to defend and justify the Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur’s absence that he has authorised Cabinet minister Mohinder Singh Thakur and Suresh Bhardwaj to conduct his business in the house during his absence for the last three days.
The opposition members targeted the Chief minister to not be sincere to the Assembly session which was convened after a gap of two years at Dharmshala due to Covid pandemic but added that he was keen in the functions of other States rather than his own state.
They also tried to dramatically hold protest meetings as a mock house and Congress MLAs held a simultaneous protest meeting sitting on the violet carpet of well during the question hours.
After the walkout, Jal Shakti Minister, Mohinder Singh Thakur condemned the action of Congress Members and slammed them for being insensitive by defying the speaker’s ruling on adjournment motion.
However , after walk out Congress Members attended the proceedings in the house however CPI(m) MLA Rakesh Singha did not join the protest and tried to address the issues of pay anomalies of police and home guards jawans in the question hours.
He said that the Government could not take duties of such employees for more than eight hours as per the Supreme court order.
