No Scheme for Education and Employment in the Budget: NSUI
The Himachal Pradesh unit of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) described the central budget as disappointing. NSUI state secretary Yaseen Butt stated that the central budget does not include any special scheme or policy for youth employment. He alleged that parts of the Congress manifesto for the 2024 elections were stolen to formulate schemes, and youth are being deceived with promises of temporary jobs and stipends through internships in some companies.
Moreover, no financial package has been provided for the disaster that struck Himachal Pradesh; only the Post-Disaster Need Assessment Fund was mentioned, which appears insignificant. For farmers, there is nothing in the budget to strengthen the rural economy. A proper support price announcement for their crops could have benefitted them. This is a budget for capitalists. Farmers could have been benefited by making agricultural tools, fertilizers, and other agricultural-related materials GST-free. However, it is unfortunate that subsidies on fertilizers, food, and petroleum have been reduced. To stabilize the unstable government running on central support, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh have certainly been handed a token relief.
