NIT Hamirpur ranks 18th in India Today survey in Engineering
NIT( National Institute of Technology), Hamirpur has been ranked at number 18th conducted by the India Today, a known magazine in collaboration with MDRA (Marketing and Development Research Associates) for the year 2021.
This ranking was given based upon various factors i.e., Intake Quality and Governance, Academic Excellence, Infrastructure and Living Experience, Personality and Leadership Development, Career Progression and Placement, Objective score and
Perceptual score.
NIT Hamirpur scored 1,534 marks out of 2,000.
This ranking given by India today in collaboration with MDRA had started from 2018 onwards and NIT Hamirpur participated in this ranking for the first time.
Dr. Lalit Awasthy, the Director of the NIT, Jalandhar, who is also holding charge of the Hamirpur NIT in addition to his Jalandhar duties, says that this Institute was started as a joint venture between Govt. of Himachal Pradesh and Govt. of India as REC Hamirpur in 1986 with the intake of 60 students in two branches. Presently, we have 12 UG, 17 PG (Masters) programmes and an MBA having approximately a student strength of 4393. We also have 5 years of Dual Degree programmes in ECE & CSE.
He claims that the Institute is a research Institute and we enroll PhD in all the Departments and Centers including Engineering, Sciences, Management, Humanities & Social Sciences.
The Institute is autonomous since 1994 and rechristened as an Institute of National Importance in August 2007 by an Act of Parliament. The total faculty strength is 180 approx. and 80 more need to be recruited.
