New Education Policy highly flawed, 98 percent pupils couldn’t qualify examination
Terming New Education Policy (NEP) highly flawed Himachal Pradesh University SFI unit lodged a protest in the campus on Wednesday stating that students were taken in confidence before implement new education system. In a press statement issued after the demonstration SFI University unit campus Secretary Sunny Secta and President Harish Thakur said that under NEP University have to adopt ‘Choice Based Credit System’ but instead of taking choice of students thee are being imposed to study six to eight subjects without their consent moreover depriving them opportunity to choose the subjects of their choice or interest, which could helps them to get employment opportunities in the coming time. They said that Previous BJP government has implemented the NEP in hurry without taking consent of subjects from them. Students alleged that NEP is proving dam squib like previous RUSA system. Students said that imposing of New Education Policy without the interest of the students also spoiling their academic carrier as in the results declared of PG courses under CBCS, 98 percent remained fail to qualify subject. They said that it is necessary to take the opinion of the students in first year of PG admission but University adopted the NEP without giving this choice to them. Now University has announced date sheet of examination which they have not opted and studied in their earlier semester, besides this the result of previous semester was not declared by the University. Students alleged that since implementation of NEP during previous BJP government university administration is continuously delaying the examinations of PG first session. Students stated that confusion also created by University about examination of PG classes which was announced recently. SFI warned University Administration to resolve the problem soon failing to which a mass movement would be lodged in the state to withdraw NEP and CBCS in the state.
