Met Office issue yellow alert in Himachal
Indian Meterogical Department issued yellow alert of thunderstorm,lightning, hailstorm &gusty winds (windspeed 30-40 knots perhour) likely at isolatedplaces over plains, low& mid hills.Thunderstorm & lightning likely at isolated places overhigh hills on Tuesday and Wednesday. The IMD has announced heavy rain and rain in the coming two days and there is a possibility of hailstorm. Farmers are warned that hailstorm and thunder in most areas of Himachal for the next 3 days may cause loss to stone and pome fruit neet antihail nets. According to the alert issued, Chamba, Kangra, Mandi likely to have rain thunderstorms, lightening and windstorm on May 3 and 4. A yellow alert also been issued for hailstorm and strong winds in Sirmaur and Solan. The Mercury plummet in the entire state as soon as the weather changes with western disturbances. It is expected that long spell of dry heat wave would bring relief from the severe sweltering heatwave in the state. Number of forests in the state which are under fire would doused down blages. Use hail nets to avoid damage from Hailstorm. Proper ventilation system should be maintained in sheds.Vegetable nursery and crop may be thatched with grass and ploy sheet. Ensure drainage in the vegetable fields and New plantings may be thatched with grass and poly sheets to avoid direct influence of thunderstorm ir lightning, the Met Office warned.
