Met Department forecasts the possibility of light rain and snow in Himachal

The Indian Meteorological Department predicted the possibility of light rain in the isolated places of Himachal Pradesh and snowfall in the high reaches.

According to a weather bulletin issued on Thursday IMD said that there is the possibility of light precipitation at isolated places along the catchment area Beas and Satluj however no warning was issued along Ranjit Sagar.

State Met Office forecast that there is the possibility of light rainfall in the districts of Kangra, Bilaspur, Una, Hamirpur, Mandi, Solan, and Sirmaur.

High reaches of  Lahaul Spiti, Shimla, and Kullu may have light snowfall in the next 24 hours.

With effect from December 16 a new Western Disturbances is also approaching North Western Himalayan states, Chandigarh-based Punjab and Haryana Met Office incharge Manmohan Singh informed.

Meanwhile, many places are reeling under subzero temperatures and many springs and glacial lakes are frozen due to the early advancement of the winter season.

The minimum temperature of Kaza was minus nine degrees in Lahaul Spiti, Keylong minus six, Samdho five, Kalpa minus 4, Narkanda 0.5, Bhuntar airport minus 0.1, and Mandi 0.1, Solan, Kufri and Una two, Dalhousie, Shimla and Airport Jubberhati five each.

The abode of Tibetan leader Dalai Lama Dharmshala seven, Kangra 4.6 and Nahan (Sirmour) and Shikh Shrine city Paonta Sahib eight degrees each.

The visibility may slashed in the wee hours and early Friday due to the formation of fogs in the foothill and along water streams in the state in the next 24 hours.
