Mercury improvises in past 24 hrs High reaches already snowing
Minimum temperature improvised in past 24hrs giving major respite from extreme cold wave condition however since early morning it was snowing in high altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh and Advisory of blizzard, snowfall and local people and tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel in high-altitude area due to snowfall at South Portal Rohtang Tunnel and Dhundi near Tourist resort Manali. According to Meteorological Department Hansa (Lahul-Spiti) had five cm snow, Kukumseri 3.4 cm , Kothi (Kullu) 2.5 cm, Tissa (Chamba) 1.5 cm, , Gondla(Lahul-Spiti) one cm. Minimum temperature of Keylong was minus 6 degrees and four degree high of yesterday, Kalpa minus 1.8 and 2.5 high of y’day Shimla 5.8 and three degrees high of y’day, Manali 1.8, Dalhousie 0.4, Kufri 0.7, Narkanda minus 1.2, Dharamshala 5.2, Una 6.4,Nahan(Sirmour) 6.2, Solan 4.2, Kangra 6.8 Mandi 5.6 Bilaspur 4 ,Hamirpur 6.5 and Chamba 7.3 degrees. Met office forecast major spell of rain and Snowfall in the state as Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted from snowfall and rain on 19th, 20th and 23rd to 26th January 2023, in the district. Despite the warnings being issued, people go to the higher hilly areas and putting their lives at risk. IMD also warned that in view the possibility of snowfall in the district, all citizens and tourists are informed that they should avoid unnecessary travel in high altitude areas and low temperature areas and stay safe in their homes and do not take any kind of risk. All Gram Panchayat Pradhan, NGOs, Trekkers and Pedestrians are requested to spread this message to maximum people to avoid any unpleasant incidents. Keeping this information in mind, be very alert in your respective areas and make sure of the weather or road conditions before making any urgent travel. Keeping in view the road and weather conditions in the district, and the Black Ice Phenomenon and slippery road conditions on NH 03 and only Locals and Pangi bound four by four vehicles and Sumo with chain are allowed to enter the district via ATR only till further orders. Police Department Lahaul & Spiti would oversee the traffic management and coordinate with District Kullu Police. Due to inclement weather Locals & tourists are advised to be very cautious while traveling in the valley. In case of snowfall, they are requested to move and stay in safe places. All Hotel and Homestay owners are also requested to advise their guests likewise. Manali -Leh National Highway ( NH – 003 ) is open upto darcha for Tata sumo with chains and four by four vehicles . The Darcha Shinkula road is closed for all types of vehicles. Pangi Killar Highway ( SH – 26 ) is open for local four by hour vehicles and Tata sumo with chains . Kaza road (NH-505) is closed from Gramphu to Kaza and Sumdo to Losar is open for all types of vehicles. Local people and tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel due to snowfall at South Portal and Dhundi.
