Mastermind behind multi-crore Himachal crypto currency scam arrested in Kolkata
The Himachal Pradesh Police recently apprehended Milan Garg, one of the masterminds behind a massive cryptocurrency scam that rocked the state in 2022. Garg, a 35-year-old resident of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, had initially fled to Dubai when the scam was exposed. However, he returned to India in June and was caught at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata while attempting to escape to Bangkok, Thailand.
The elaborate cryptocurrency fraud, which targeted thousands of victims, began in 2018 but only came to light in 2022. The perpetrators lured people with an investment scheme centered around a locally created cryptocurrency called “Korvio Coin” (KRO coins), produced in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.
Surprisingly, even over a thousand police personnel fell victim to this fraudulent scheme. Meanwhile, the alleged kingpin, Subhash Sharma from Sarkaghat in Himachal’s Mandi district, remains at large, possibly hiding in the UAE. Authorities are actively working to bring him back to face justice.
Among the key suspects already arrested are Hemraj and Sukhdev from Mandi, as well as Arun Guleria and Abhishekh from the Una district of Himachal Pradesh. The investigation continues as law enforcement seeks to dismantle the entire network behind this significant financial scam.
