Mandi hooch tragedy : Poisonous Liquor recovered from liquor vends 

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister state assembly on Tuesday that Seven people died after consumption of spurious liquors and investigation found that this liquor was recovered from valid vend. Replying to a query of Jagat Singh Negi, Chief Minsiter Jai Ram Thakur said that including Nareti vend of Shahpur police station of Kangra district and Tarakwadi vend of Hamirpur district besides this liquor was also secretly sold illegally in dhabas and shops etc as country liquor ‘Santra’ VRV Fools Ltd. brand  confiscated after the tragedy . He said that although it is possible to sell illicit liquor in various ways but the valid contracts from which this liquor was recovered. Chief Minister said that till Feb 1, 2022, seven people died in the state due to consumption of spurious liquor, the matter is still under investigation.  He said that the deceased had bought this poisonous liquor from National Highway, Salapad, Dhabas and shops located near Mandi.  Mr Thakur who also holds the portfolio home said that only after the results of the forensic analysis of the seized liquor could reveal presence of toxic elements. Forensic laboratory results or reports  would confirm toxic elements . Chief Minister said that a viscera report of the deceased’ confirmed the presence of methyl alcohol.  A total of 36 people involved in illegal liquor business have been arrested in the state so far., Out of 36 people arrested 13 people have been found involved in manufacturing this liquor. He said that factories used for manufacturing illicit liquor in Hamirpur district, Gujarhati at Nalagarh of Solan district. Replying to another query of Rajinder Rana of Congress Chief Minsiter said that  government is going to implement a ‘Trace and Track system’ for the prevention of spurious and adulterated liquor in the state. Mr Thakur said that tenders were invited by the government and online bid was received from  Telecommunication M / s Consultants India Limited ( TCIL ) ( lead bidder ) and its consortium partner M / s C – Tel Infosys.
