Leader of Opposition terms Himachal budget as disappointing
Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has termed the state budget for the coming financial year presented by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu in the assembly as disappointing and said that there is neither innovation nor enthusiasm in the budget. He said that as much noise was made by the Congress, especially Chief Minister Sukhu, there is nothing in the budget. Jairam Thakur said in a press conference here that there was nothing visible in the budget to change the system and only the schemes of the previous BJP government were renamed and run under the name of the Gandhi family or in their own name. He accused the officials of misleading both the government and the general public. Jairam Thakur said that there was no clarity in the budget speech regarding the guarantees given by the Congress in the assembly elections. He asked which women would be given the allowance of Rs 1500 mentioned in the budget. He also said that there is no clarity yet regarding the provisions of OPS while the employees are seeking pension as per the old norms. The Leader of Opposition said that most of the schemes in the budget are of the previous BJP government and most of the schemes have been renamed. He said that the order for the purchase of 350 electric buses had been placed in the previous BJP government to establish Himachal as a green state, but these buses have not been brought so far. He said that the opposition will seek answers from the government during the discussion on the budget speech on all the schemes run by the BJP government. Jairam Thakur said that most of the schemes mentioned by the Chief Minister in his budget speech are Central Government sponsored schemes, which the Chief Minister is showing as the schemes of the State Government.
