Kangana Ranaut advocates for Himachal’s endangered art forms in parliament
In her inaugural speech as a Member of Parliament representing Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi Lok Sabha constituency, Kangana Ranaut passionately addressed the precarious state of various art forms in the region. She underscored the importance of preserving Indigenous construction techniques, such as “kath-kuni,” and other techniques which utilizes sheepskin to craft clothing items like jackets, caps, shawls, and sweaters. Kangana also expressed deep concern about the gradual disappearance of folk music and traditional art forms from Spiti, Kinnaur, and Bharmour. Her powerful plea urged action to protect these cultural treasures from fading into oblivion.
