Jai Ram Thakur -Panchayats are the most important units of grassroot democracy

The elected representatives of the Panchayati Raj Institutions must identify and reach out to maximum number of beneficiaries of various policies and programmes launched by the State Government so that they could be motivated to strengthen the BJP party. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur stated this while addressing the elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions of Seraj Vidhan Sabha area at Sanskriti Sadan at Mandi today. 

Chief Minister said that out of 78 Gram Panchayat Padhans in Seraj Vidhan Sabha area, 76 belongs to the BJP. He said that similarly there are 69 Up Pradhans having their affiliation with the party. He said that apart for ensuring the development and welfare of their respective areas, the Panchayat Pradhans must also ensure that the Party gets strengthened at grassroot level. 

Jai Ram Thakur said that Panchayats were the most important units of grassroot democracy and play a vital role in development of rural areas of the State, therefore the role of elected representatives of these institutions becomes far more important. He said that elected representatives must also reach out to the opinion leaders of their respective area and pursue him to associate with the Party. He said that efforts must be made to motivate the opinion leaders and general people to associate them with the party.  He said that there was a big responsibility on the shoulders of people of Seraj to ensure massive and record victory of BJP in the coming elections.

Chief Minister also released a diary on the occasion brought out by the BJP Mandal Seraj.

State BJP President Suresh Kashyap said that the people of Seraj in general and elected representatives of Seraj in particular were fortunate that they were represented by leader of constituency who is heading the State. He said that the representatives must give due regard to the candidate who have lost the elections and bring him back into the fold of Party. He also urged the elected representatives to work relentlessly to strengthen the Party base in their area. There was no dearth of budget for development works and this only required commitment and hard work, he added.  

Several Pradhans and Up Pradhans of Panchayats gave their valuable suggestions to strengthen the Party on the occasion. 

MLA and General Secretary State BJP Rakesh Jamwal and other senior leaders of Seraj Vidhan Sabha were present on the occasion.
