 Jai Ram Ramesh may have respite from defamation case: BJP

Congress party National leaders and Former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh may have respite from a defamation case filed against him by Former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal in 2015.

According to BJP chief Rajiv Bindal, the former Chief Minister has assured Jairam Ramesh that if he is feeling bad and regretful about the mistake committed then he will not pursue the case further.

In a Statement issued by Bindal that  under the leadership of Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal BJP has become a reckoning political force in the state despite various attempts to tarnish his image.

Dr Bindal stated that it was the increasing popularity of prof Dhumal that Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh had to reach him at Sameerpur from Delhi at around 2100hrs  on Saturday.

Party state leader informed that the meeting of the duo related to the press conference of 2015, which was held by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh in Delhi on August 2, 2015.

  In this press conference, Jairam Ramesh, leveled frivolous allegations against former Chief Minister and his son Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur.  

On this, Dhumal had filed a defamation case against Jairam Ramesh in Shimla High Court and claimed Rs 1 crore

  While replying in court, Jairam Ramesh admitted that he had held such a press conference. Still, since the filing of a defamation suit, he never attended a hearing baring once recently when he appeared in court, he had requested the judge that he meet former Chief Minister Dhumal and talk on this subject.

After appearing in the court on Saturday, Mr Bindal said that the Congress leader met former Chief Minister Professor Prem Kumar Dhumal and expressed regret on this issue.

Mr. Ramesh who held various portfolios in the previous UPA government has now taken back the allegations he had made against  Mr Dhumal and his son, the party leader added.

It is worthwhile to mention here that Political bonhomie between two adverse outfits speaks about changing the political equation in the state.

 Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu after taking over as Chief Minister has also met With BJP stalwart former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar and Prof Dhumal at their home. Now changing leadership in the state has pushed the latter to backstage but they still have their holds among the masses.

BJP Jagat Prakash Nadda, Anurag Thakur, and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur in fact belonged to different factions of the party and Mr Bindal was considered close to Prof Dhumal.
