IPS officer Rameshwar Singh Thakur to be new Chairman of HPPSC
IG intelligence and 2003 batch IPS officer of Himachal Pradesh Cadre Rameshwar Singh Thakur has been appointed as new chairman of Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission by the notification issued here today withdrawing notification of August 17 in which government to appoint Rachana Gupta as Chairman of HPPSC . Jai Ram Government has put full stops on the controversies arose over oath Cermoney of Rachana Gupa as HPPSC chairperson postponed on August 18, 2022 all of sudden and without any reason. Today Chief Secrertry R D Dhiman issued afresh notifications which says that IG intelligence and 2003 batch IPS officer of Himachal Pradesh Cadre Rameshwar Singh Thakur has been appointed as new chairman of Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission.Beside this the three members who were given appointment in the commission including IAS (reted) Rakesh Sharma, Col. Rajesh Kumar Sharma( Retd) and Prof. Om Prakash Sharma (retd) earlier , partly changed as the Rakesh Sharma, Rajesh Kumar Sharma and Prof. and Dr Nain Singha was elevated as new members. Dr Rancha Gupta and Prof O P Sharma is not figures in the new notifications issued separately for the chairman and three members here today copy of which is supplied to media. It is worthwhile to mentioned here that appointment of Dr. Rachna Gupta came under controversy all of sudden as the oath ceremony schedule on August 18 at 8.30 suspended all of sudden . In the evening a letter sent to the Governor through e-mail by Dr Rachana Gupta expressed her inability to become chairperson citing personal reasons for the same. After this, the government sent the file to withdraw the notification to make Dr. Rachna Gupta the chairman. Now the government has appointed IPS officer Rameshwar Singh Thakur as the new chairman of the commission. IPS Rameshwar Singh Thakur, resident of Jubbarhatti, Shimla, has been awarded the Clark R Bevin Law Enforcement Award, America’s prestigious award. He has served in the Prime Minister’s Special Protection Force, SPG, for nine years. Received the President’s Police Medal in 2016. He retired from the Indian Army as a Captain in 1990 before joining the Police in 1994. He has held the post of DIG in Himachal Police. Presently he is serving as IG Intelligence.
