Indian Institute of Advanced Studies and Nehru Yuva Kendra organized the Amrit Kalash Yatra
Indian Institute of Advanced Studies Shimla and Nehru Yuva Kendra Shimla organized Amrit Kalash Yatra with great pomp today under the “Meri Mati Mera Desh” campaign of the Government of India at the Institute on Friday. Today is also the foundation day of the Indian Institute of Higher Studies and on this day, 20 October 1964, the second President of India, Sarvepalli Dr. Radhakrishnan, established this institute. In this Amrit Kalash Yatra, organized under the joint aegis of the Indian Institute of Higher Studies and Nehru Youth Center, Shimla, soldiers of Border Security Force (Medical Training Centre), Government College of Excellence Sanjauli, Rajiv Gandhi Government College Chauda Maidan, National Service Center of Government Senior Secondary School Portmore. About 400 people including students, scholars, officers and employees of the institute participated in the scheme. The program started with the lighting of the lamp after which the soil collected from the premises was mixed in the Amrit Kalash. Secretary of the institute, Shri Mehar Chand Negi welcomed the Amrit Kalash Yatra and all the participants. He said that India is celebrating its 75th independence anniversary and the institute is celebrating its 59th foundation day. India is a developing country and the next 25 years will be known as Amrit Kaal because the Government of India has set the target of establishing India as a developed nation in these 25 years. Addressing on this occasion, Commandant of Border Security Force, Dr. Rajesh Kumar said that the objective of Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign is to generate emotional attachment among the citizens of the country towards their country. He also conveyed his best wishes to all the people of the Indian Institute of Higher Studies for their continuous progress on the occasion of its foundation day. After this, State Director of Nehru Yuva Kendra Shimla, Mrs. Ira Prabhat said in her address that in this Amrit Kalash, soil is being collected from every town and village of the entire country so that the soil of those who sacrificed their lives for freedom in the country’s capital Delhi can be remembered. A martyr memorial will be built in the memory of the martyrs. After this, the chief guest of the program and National Fellow of the Indian Institute of Higher Studies, Prof. Shankar Saran addressed and said that such programs create emotional connect in every person and also awaken the feeling of patriotism which becomes the basis of economic, social and global progress of a nation. At the end of the program, District Youth Officer of Nehru Yuva Kendra Ms. Manisha Sharma thanked all the participants. The program and the stage were conducted by Mr. Akhilesh Pathak, Public Relations Officer of the Indian Institute of Higher Studies. The program concluded with the national anthem, after which the institute also made arrangements for water and drinks for all the participants.
In the afternoon, the scholars and employees of the institute presented various cultural programs on the occasion of the foundation day of the institute. The main attraction of the program was the traditional Himachali folk music and folk dance (Nati) and Gujarat’s popular dance Dandiya by the employees of the institute, which was greatly appreciated by all the employees and all the scholars and co-scholars coming from India and abroad.
