Important Travel Advisory for Tourists Visiting Kullu-Manali

Even during the rainy season, Himachal Pradesh continues to welcome a steady stream of tourists from places like Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and beyond to the beautiful region of Kullu-Manali. However, there’s an important update for anyone planning to travel to this popular destination.

From July 27 to July 31, the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway will be closed for two hours each day between Mandi and Pandoh. The Mandi district administration has announced that the highway will be inaccessible from 11 AM to 1 PM daily during this period.

As per information shared by DC Mandi, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had requested this closure due to the risk of landslides in the area. Large rocks and boulders are precariously perched on hillsides, posing a danger as they could fall at any moment. Additionally, debris from previous landslides needs to be cleared to ensure the safety of travelers. Recognizing the urgency, the administration has decided to carry out this work immediately, leading to the temporary closure of the highway.

During these two-hour closures, traffic on the highway between Mandi and Pandoh will be interrupted, but there are alternative routes available. Travelers heading from Mandi to Kullu-Manali can take the Kamand-Kataula-Bajoura route. Those traveling from Kullu to Mandi can go via Pandoh-Gohar-Chailchowk-Dadaur. Please note that only small vehicles are permitted on these alternative routes, while larger vehicles will need to wait until the highway reopens.
