The Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur (IIM Sirmaur) recently concluded a three-day Management
Development Programme (MDP) titled “Navigating Change and Growth: Leadership Essentials,” held from
September 3 to 5, 2024. The programme took place at the Takshashila Sustainable Livelihood & Community
Development Centre, THDCIL, in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. The THDC MDP Center’s tranquil setting in
Rishikesh provided an ideal backdrop for this intensive programme, creating an environment conducive to
learning and personal growth. This training initiative was organized for Petronet LNG Limited, aiming to
empower their employees with different mechanisms to manage change, deal with organizational resistance, and
eventually become an effective leader for their subordinates.
The programme was organized by Programme Directors and faculty members specializing in Organizational
Behavior and Human Resource Management, Dr. Rinki Dahiya and Dr. Sonakshi Gupta. Dr. Prafulla Y.
Agnihotri and Dr. Shashi Kant Srivastava, specializing in Marketing Management and Information Technology
and Systems departments, respectively, also conducted sessions on Leadership, decision-making in groups, and
Blockchain technology. Their extensive knowledge and practical insights provided a rich learning experience
for the participants.
Earlier, Dr. Rinki Dahiya presented the opening remarks of the MDP and emphasized the emerging business
trends and learning objectives of the programme. She highlighted that the programme was specially curated to
equip professionals and management executives with practical strategies and insights on leadership, managing,
and implementing change in organizations necessary for thriving in today’s fast-evolving business landscape.
The programme extensively explored the latest strategies for managing change and best practices in Leadership.
Key topics covered during the programme included managing diversity in changing times, success mantras of
high-performing teams, leadership essentials, emotional intelligence, conflict to collaboration, and blockchain
technology in HR. Participants engaged in a blend of interactive workshops, expert-led discussions, and
practical exercises, gaining profound insights into the emerging trends shaping the HR function.
Dr. Shashikant Srivastava, CMDP chair, and the two programme directors congratulated the participants on the
successful completion of the programme during the valedictory ceremony. Dr. Sonakshi Gupta gave the vote of
thanks in the valedictory ceremony. Dr. Sonakshi Gupta shared, “In these changing times, it is essential that we
learn how to identify resistance and deal with it. A good leader does not suppress resistance but uses it to open a
candid conversation around the proposed change and then deal with them through different strategies.” This
management development programme is another step towards IIM Sirmaur’s sincere commitment to future
collaboration and partnership with PSUs.
