IIAS Celebrates 59th Foundation Day with Cultural Evening and Blood Donation Camp
As part of the week-long festivities celebrating its 59th Foundation Day, the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS) hosted a lively cultural evening on 17th October 2024. The event, held at the Institute’s Pool Theatre, saw enthusiastic participation from the institute’s officers, staff, and associates.
The evening began with a Saraswati Vandana by Mrs. Vandana, followed by a series of vibrant performances, including Lavani dance, a children’s fancy dress competition, folk songs, Bhangra, Gidda, and Himachali Nati. Notable highlights included a captivating Lavani dance by Mrs. Rajni, an energetic Bhangra by Mr. Sanyam Singh, and a traditional Himachali Nati performed by the institute’s staff. In addition, soulful songs, bhajans, and poetry were presented by Mr. Devendra Singh, Mr. Kesar Singh, Mr. Deepak Sharma, and Mr. Rajesh Kumar, adding depth to the celebration.
A special short play on the character of Ashwatthama, performed by Mr. Ashwani Sharma, captivated the audience, while Public Relations Officer Mr. Akhilesh Pathak expertly hosted the evening, engaging and motivating the participants.
On 18th October, the institute, in collaboration with IGMC Blood Bank, Shimla, organized a blood donation camp. Officers, employees, scholars, their families, and other members of the institute took part, with 62 units of blood collected under the leadership of Dr. Siddharth and the IGMC Blood Bank team. The camp aimed to promote awareness about the significance of blood donation and its life-saving impact.
The celebrations will conclude on 20th October 2024 with a formal event at the Pool Theatre, featuring additional cultural performances.
