I am a warrior, will face all the challenges: Sukhu

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has refuted claims of tendering his resignation, asserting his commitment to continue leading the state. Dismissing rumors circulating in the media, he emphasized his determination to confront challenges head-on, affirming that the Congress government will complete its full term of five years.

Earlier speculations arose following reports suggesting Sukhu’s intention to step down to safeguard the State Government, particularly after the passage of the budget. However, Sukhu clarified that such assertions are unfounded, reaffirming his dedication to serving the common people, employees, and women of the state for the entire tenure.

Despite recent developments, including cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha polls, Sukhu asserted the government’s majority in the house, noting ongoing communication with some opposition BJP MLAs. He reassured the public of the government’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate.

Additionally, party MLA Sunder Lal rebuffed claims of Sukhu’s resignation, highlighting logistical hurdles as party observers had yet to arrive in Shimla. Moreover, according to AICC sources, no formal proposal for resignation has been received.

Reports earlier indicated Sukhu’s purported discussion with party observers Bhupinder Singh Hooda and DK Shivkumar regarding resignation if it could stabilize the government amidst political upheaval sparked by cross-voting incidents.

The turmoil intensified after six Congress MLAs, including Rajinder Rana, Sudhir Sharma, Ravi Thakur, Inderdut Lakhanpal, Chetnya Sharma, and Devinder Bhuto, allegedly cross-voted in favor of the BJP candidate, Harsh Mahajan. Rana subsequently conveyed dissatisfaction with Sukhu’s leadership to the Congress leadership, raising concerns about potential defections.

This unrest prompted further resignations, such as that of the PWD Minister, citing grievances related to his father’s treatment and unmet MLA priorities. Observers from Delhi have been dispatched to assess the situation amidst calls from the opposition BJP for the government to step down, alleging loss of majority in the house.
