HRTC to procure 25 volvo and 50 tempo travelers
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu chaired a meeting of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) here today. While emphasizing its pivotal role as the lifeline of Himachal Pradesh the Chief Minister assured full support from the State Government that would bolster the corporation’s operations.
The Chief Minister announced significant measures to enhance commuter services provided by HRTC. These include the procurement of 25 new Volvo buses and 50 tempo travelers to strengthen the fleet. He said that apart from this, plans are underway to introduce electric buses, with a substantial budget of Rs. 517 crore allocated for their purchase in the current financial year.
The Chief Minister underscored the critical importance of HRTC, particularly in light of the limited air and rail connectivity in the state. He emphasized the need to strengthen HRTC’s operations to ensure it continues to provide top-notch facilities to the people. To facilitate this, the State Government has committed to providing Rs. 63 crore per month to support HRTC in delivering excellent transport services to commuters.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri also gave his valuable suggestions during the meeting.
Principal Secretary Transport RD Nazeem, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, Managing Director HRTC Rohan Chand Thakur and OSD to the Chief Minister Gopal Sharma were also present at the meeting.
