Horticulture College was declared Champion at the 9th Annual Inter College Youth Festival held at Nauni University
The College of Horticulture, Nauni was declared the overall winner of the 9th Annual Inter College Youth Festival held at Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni on Thursday evening. The results were announced during the concluding session of the three-day fest, which saw the participation of all four colleges of the university in the different literary, theatre, fine arts and song and dance events
On Thursday, the most awaited event- Group Dance was held. The performances from teams from all the colleges brought the audiences on their feet. The performance of Forestry College was adjudged the best with Horticulture College taking the second spot. In the patriotic song, the College of Horticulture bagged first place while Forestry stood second. In light vocals, Oas and Mohit of the College of Horticulture jointly bagged the first prize while Himshiksa from Forestry and Deepak from Thunag stood second. In the group song, the team from Horticulture stood first while Forestry bagged the second spot. In the one-act play, Forestry College beat Horticulture to take the first spot while the team of Horticulture beat Forestry to secure the first position in Mime. In skit, Horticulture College stood first while Neri came in second place. In Mono acting, Bharti from Horticulture College and Ashish from Forestry jointly bagged the first positions while Aditi and Simran from Neri and Forestry College stood second.
Appreciation awards were also given to 11 year old Hemant who played the tabla and Deepak from Thunag College for his entertaining dances. This year for the first time, Best Actor awards were given which were won by Rishab and Akshikta from the College of Horticulture.
The prizes were given away by the Vice Chancellor Prof Rajeshwar Singh Chandel. Speaking on the occasion he lauded the performances of the participants who showcased the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of the country. He appreciated the efforts of the students in creating awareness about the dying traditions of the hills and also creating awareness about societal evils through their art and performance.
Earlier, Dr Rajesh Bhalla, Dean Students’ Welfare presented the report of the Youth Festival and thanked the judges and the students from all the colleges for the entertaining performances. Dr Narender Bharat presented the vote of thanks.
