Himachal’s Dry Spell Continues, Cold Wave Tightens Grip

Himachal Pradesh has been witnessing dry weather for several days, resulting in a sharp increase in cold conditions. From the hills to the plains, mornings and evenings have become notably chilly. In the tribal regions, temperatures have dipped as low as -9°C, while the biting cold has led to a rise in cases of winter ailments such as colds, coughs, and fevers.

Farmers and Horticulturists Concerned Over Rain Deficit

The prolonged dry weather has left farmers and horticulturists worried. According to the Meteorological Department, no significant change in weather is expected in the coming days. Over the past 24 hours, most parts of the state have remained dry, with minimum temperatures largely unchanged. While minimum temperatures hovered near normal in most areas, a few places saw a drop of 1-2 degrees Celsius below average. Similarly, maximum temperatures remained steady, with some locations recording 2-3 degrees Celsius above normal.

Today, Tabo recorded the lowest temperature at -9.4°C, while Una registered the highest at 28°C.

Yellow Alert for Dense Fog in Specific Regions

The Meteorological Department forecasts a drop of 2-3 degrees Celsius in both maximum and minimum temperatures over the next three days, with overall dry weather expected to persist. However, a yellow alert has been issued for dense fog in areas near Bhakra Dam, Balh, Sundernagar, Una, and Hamirpur during the night and early morning hours until November 21.

Light Rain and Snow Expected in Higher Areas

Light rain and snowfall are likely in the higher altitudes of Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba, and Kangra districts from November 22 to 24. Similar weather conditions are expected in the upper regions of Kangra and Kullu on November 23 and 24. Meanwhile, the rest of the state is predicted to remain dry over the next week.
