Himachal to Recruit 6,297 Pre-Primary Teachers as Hiring Ban Lifts

The long-awaited recruitment of pre-primary teachers in Himachal Pradesh is finally set to begin, with 6,297 vacancies to be filled across the state. After months of uncertainty due to a legal dispute, the process has gained momentum following the Supreme Court’s decision to lift the ban on outsourced recruitment.

Recruitment Process Resumes

The Himachal Pradesh Education Department has restarted preparations, with the State Electronics Corporation overseeing the hiring process. This recruitment drive, originally initiated under the previous government, faced a major roadblock last year when the Himachal High Court imposed a ban on outsourced hiring, leading to its suspension. Now, with the Supreme Court staying the High Court’s order, Education Minister Rohit Thakur has directed officials to expedite the recruitment without further delays.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

The new recruits, officially designated as Early Childhood Care and Education Instructors, will be assigned to schools with nursery and kindergarten classes. The eligibility criteria include:

  • Himachali residency (proof required for those who studied outside Himachal).
  • Age between 21 and 45 years.
  • Minimum 50% marks in Class XII (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates).
  • Essential qualifications:
    • Two-year diploma in Nursery Teacher Education, Pre-School Education, or Early Childhood Education.
    • B.Ed (Nursery) from a recognized institute.

Salary, Supervision, and Transfer Rules

The recruitment will be overseen by the Director of Primary Education, ensuring that school-wise vacancies are filled efficiently. Selected instructors will receive a fixed monthly salary of ₹10,000, which includes taxes, GST, and agency charges.

Once appointed, these educators will work under the supervision of the most senior teacher in their respective schools, while the Deputy Director of Primary Education in each district will oversee overall administration.

Importantly, the guidelines ensure job security, as no instructor can be removed from service without government approval. Transfers may only be considered in cases of administrative necessity or enrollment fluctuations, subject to the Director of Primary Education’s approval.

With this long-pending recruitment process now back on track, thousands of aspiring teachers in Himachal Pradesh can finally look forward to securing positions in the state’s education system.
