Himachal Pradesh University Non-Teaching Employees Begin Protests Over Pending Demands
The Himachal Pradesh University Non-Teaching Employees Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) has initiated a series of protests to address their pending demands. On the call of the JCC, a gate meeting was held today under the chairmanship of JCC President Rajesh Thakur in front of the Vice Chancellor’s office. The gathering saw the participation of all non-teaching employees of the university.
The meeting, which took place on July 18, 2024, saw JCC officials Naresh Kumar Sharma, Lalit Kumar, Devender Kumar, and Rajesh Thakur addressing the employees. They expressed their dissatisfaction with the university administration’s response to their demand letter, which they described as negative and disappointing. The administration had given a 15-day ultimatum, which did not yield any positive results, prompting the employees to resort to protests.
The non-teaching staff community participated enthusiastically in the protest, highlighting their collective frustration and demand for action.
As per the decision of the JCC’s Action Committee, gate meetings will be held daily until further notice. In addition, the non-teaching staff will celebrate the foundation day of the university on July 22, 2024, during one of these meetings, with sweets and other festivities planned for the occasion.
