Himachal Pradesh Employees’ Federation Demands Return of ₹9,000 Crore from Centre Post Old Pension Scheme Restoration


On July 31, 2024, a delegation of the New Pension Scheme Employees’ Federation, led by State President Pradeep Thakur, met with His Excellency the Governor, Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla. Pradeep Thakur informed His Excellency that ₹9,000 crore belonging to 136,000 employees of Himachal Pradesh is with the Central Government, which should be returned to the state government and employees after the restoration of the old pension scheme. A memorandum was submitted to the Governor on this issue, requesting that the amount contributed to NPS (New Pension Scheme) be returned to the state government and employees as soon as possible. The Governor assured that he would bring this matter to the attention of the Central Government and write a letter to the Honorable Prime Minister. The General Secretary of the New Pension Scheme Employees’ Federation, Shri Bharat Sharma, stated that efforts to retrieve the ₹9,000 crore from the Centre are ongoing. Last month, memorandums were submitted to the Honorable President and Prime Minister through the appropriate authority, and today a memorandum on this matter was given to the Governor. In the future, memorandums will also be submitted through Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs. Our efforts will continue until the state’s and employees’ shares are returned from NSDL (National Securities Depository Limited). On this occasion, State General Secretary Bharat Sharma, Shimla District General Secretary of the New Pension Scheme Employees’ Federation Narayan Singh Himral, Organization Secretary Amar Dev, Vice President Vijay Thakur, Mandi District Vice President Dinesh, and other officials were present.
