Himachal Police bust major drug syndicate, Arrest 16 in Rohru-Chirgaon crackdown
In a decisive blow to drug trafficking, the Himachal Pradesh Police have dismantled a major interstate drug syndicate operating in the Rohru-Chirgaon area. Spearheaded by SDPO Theog Siddhartha Sharma, the operation targeted a network linked to notorious drug trafficker Shahi Mahatma, bringing a 3-4 year-long drug operation to its knees.
The breakthrough came during an investigation triggered by the recovery of 468 grams of heroin in a raid related to a case registered under the NDPS Act at Kotkhai Police Station. Following this lead, authorities conducted detailed financial probes and used advanced technical intelligence to unearth the syndicate’s operations.
On November 21, 2024, the police arrested 16 individuals, primarily residents of Shimla district, ranging in age from 24 to 53. These arrests included key players in the syndicate who were deeply involved in the distribution and trafficking of heroin and other narcotics.
Arrested Individuals and Their Roles
Among the arrested are:
Yashwant Singh (53) from Sharog, Rohru
Pradeep Chauhan (25) from Samala, Rohru
Lalit Thakur (29) from Rohru
Aman Negi (24) from Bathava, Chirgaon
Brij Mohan (35) from Seema, Rohru
And several others from various villages in the Rohru and Jubbal regions.
The police revealed that the network had generated an estimated illicit revenue of ₹7-8 crore over the years.
