Himachal Opens Recruitment for 182 BRCC Positions to Strengthen Education Initiatives
The Himachal Pradesh Education Department has begun the long-awaited recruitment process for 182 Block Resource Center Coordinator (BRCC) positions, inviting online applications until December 18. This development follows the resolution of legal challenges that had delayed the process since November 2023, with the High Court giving the green light for recruitment.
Under newly implemented guidelines, the recruitment aims to ensure transparency and the appointment of highly qualified candidates. As part of the changes, teachers who have previously served as BRCCs will not be eligible for reappointment. A committee led by the Education Secretary will oversee the selection process, which includes a written exam, evaluation of teaching experience, and a personal interview.
One significant update is the extension of the BRCC appointment tenure from three years to five. Additionally, the eligibility criteria now require candidates to have at least 15 years of teaching experience. For the first time, the recruitment process is categorized to include lecturers, alongside Junior Basic Teachers (JBT) and Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT). The positions will be divided as follows: 50% for JBT, 25% for TGT, and 25% for lecturers.
Candidates must hold degrees from recognized universities, have computer application skills, and possess a strong understanding of holistic education schemes. The selection process will be scored out of 100 marks, with 40 marks for the written exam and teaching methodology, 40 marks for academic qualifications, and 20 marks for the interview.
The newly recruited BRCCs will play a pivotal role in implementing the state’s holistic education programs, conducting teacher training sessions, and ensuring the effective execution of various educational initiatives. This recruitment drive is expected to enhance the quality of education across Himachal Pradesh by placing experienced and capable educators in leadership roles.
