Himachal issues advisory for tourists amid monsoon risks

The Traffic, Tourist, and Railway Police (TTRP) of Himachal Pradesh have issued an advisory urging tourists to take precautions while visiting the state during the monsoon season, when various water bodies are in spate. The advisory comes in response to a forecast of heavy rain from July 6 to July 11 and a yellow alert warning of rain, storms, and lightning.

In a post on the social media platform X, the TTRP cautioned both residents and visitors to exercise caution and follow safety measures to prevent accidents. The authorities have advised avoiding regions prone to rain-induced avalanches and landslides, particularly in upper and hilly areas.

“Trekking and visiting high-altitude areas during inclement weather can be extremely hazardous,” the advisory stated. In addition, it recommended that in case of lightning, people should remain indoors or in safe buildings for at least 30 minutes after the last thunderclap.

This advisory aims to ensure the safety of all during the challenging monsoon period, emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety protocols to prevent mishaps.
