Himachal Govt to ensure 80 percent employment in industrial units for Himachalis: Harshwardhan

Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan said that the state government is ensuring that employment in all the industrial, power and tourism units is provided to Himachalis. He said that the present government is committed to accelerate the pace of industrial development in the State, along with providing more employment opportunities to the youth of the State.  He directed the Department of Labor and Employment to ensure 80 percent employment for the Himachalis in private Industrial Units in the State while presiding over the review meeting of Labour and Employment Department here today.

He said that various welfare schemes are being implemented the state government for the benefit of youth of the State. One such welfare scheme is Skill Development Allowance Scheme in which Rs. 22.90 crore have been provided to 51,587 youth of the State. Similarly, Rs. 16.83 crore has been provided to 18,404 beneficiaries of the Unemployment Allowance Scheme in this financial year till date.

Expressing satisfaction over the digitization of 100 percent employment exchanges of the State, he said that now the registration and renewal could be done online and that there is no need to visit the employment exchanges.

Industries Minister said that private employers can upload the details of vacancies occurring in their organizations online on ‘eemis’ portal. He said that presently 567 private organizations have got registered on this portal.

He also directed the department to ensure implementation of labour laws in the State in the interest of people of the Himachal Pradesh. He said that various reforms have been made by the government to enhance to ease of doing business in the State. Now, the industrial units were required to submit single online integrated return instead of five manual returns under various labour laws. Besides, the concept of online registration and renewal of establishments has been introduced in the State. He said that in order to ensure time-bound delivery of various services to the citizens, 13 services have been covered under HP Public Service Guarantee Act 2011.

Labour Commissioner-cum-Director of Employment Manasi Sahay Thakur appraised the Industries Minister about the achievements of the Labor and Employment Department during the last one year.

Deputy Labour Commissioner Manish Karol, Deputy Director Employment Sandeep Thakur and Labour Officers of all districts of the State were also present in the meeting among other senior officers.
