Himachal Govt assures to take action in violation of Lodha panel recommendation

Himachal Pradesh Government stated on Monday that action would be taken against those sports associations that are being run by people not affiliated with any sports and in violation of the Lodha Panel recommendation. Replying to a query raised by the Kewal Singh Pathania (Shapur) Sports Minister Yadvinder Goma said that members would supply him with the list of sports associations being run by people who are not in compliance with the Lodha Commission recommendation and action would be taken against them.

Mr. Goma said that registration of sports bodies is being done by the cooperative department and he did not have information about such self-styled sports organizations which are being run by people not related to the sports. ”I could take action against such bodies if a member was informed about such bodies and supplied details of such bodies to him” a member said.
Raising this issue during the question hours Mr Pathania said that the association is not doing an election and some presidents of sports associations who are not affiliated to sports are continuing to lead such bodies. The member said that he represented Hockey on the National level four times but finding people who have no relation to sports in the past at the helm of affairs is unfortunate. He said that grants in aid to such organizations should be stopped which are not following the Lodha Commission recommendation.

The minister said that members should supply him with information if he had a department that would take action against such sports associations.  Minister said that the department spent Rs 71 lakh in Chambai Ground and money was spent under the supervision of the Public Works Department. He said that Grant aid would be provided to various sports associations that are being run under the compliance of Lodha Committee recommendation. The Minister said that the details of the  Government grant in aid being provided to various sports associations are to be supplied to members in writing. Mr Goma said that under MLA discretionary funds  Rs 15 lakh was given to each member to build a sports stadium. He said that funds were sanctioned to various MLAs as approval was pending for a long time.
