Himachal Government to develop a concrete plan for combating drug abuse: Rohit Thakur
The Himachal Pradesh government is set to roll out a comprehensive strategy aimed at curbing the rising menace of drug abuse among the youth. This plan, which will involve coordinated efforts from multiple departments and institutions, was emphasized by Education Minister Rohit Thakur during a convention organized by the State Knowledge Science Center. The convention focused on protecting the state’s youth from the dangers of chemical and narcotic substances.
During his address, Thakur reiterated the government’s commitment to achieving a drug-free Himachal and highlighted the alarming impact that drugs are having on society. He pointed out that a breakdown in the social fabric, coupled with the increasing isolation and easy access to technology, is contributing to harmful behaviors among the younger generation. The minister stressed the need to use technology responsibly, ensuring it aids development rather than becoming a tool for misuse.
“The government is fully committed to addressing this growing issue. We are bringing together all key stakeholders to devise a robust, actionable plan that tackles drug abuse at its roots,” said Thakur. He assured that the Education Department would lend full support to the initiative and pledged to hold meetings with relevant departments in the near future to expedite the process.
Call for a Special Anti-Drug Task Force
