Himachal Congress Stages Protest Against Adani and SEBI, Demands JPC Probe and Caste Census

In response to the All India Congress Committee’s call, the state Congress organized a sit-in protest in front of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today, raising strong slogans against Adani and SEBI. They demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the alleged relations between Adani and the SEBI chief, as well as a caste census in the country.

State Congress President Pratibha Singh accused the BJP government at the center of manipulating the country’s economy to benefit a few capitalists. She claimed that the SEBI chief, who previously worked for the Adani Group, is now financially benefiting the group. Singh called for the SEBI chief’s removal and a JPC investigation into his involvement in the Adani share scam exposed by the recent Hindenburg report, which resulted in significant financial losses for numerous shareholders.

All India Congress Committee spokesperson and MLA from Theog, Kuldeep Singh Rathore, criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for allegedly damaging the country’s economy. He stated that opposition leaders who raise their voices against these actions are threatened with CBI and ED investigations. Rathore emphasized the need for an impartial investigation into financial scams, insisting that only a JPC probe would be acceptable. He reiterated Congress’s nationwide protest against this mega scam.

Rathore supported Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s demand in Parliament for a full JPC investigation following the Hindenburg revelations, asserting that the truth about the central government’s favoritism towards certain capitalists must be revealed. He also accused the BJP of avoiding a caste census, which Congress supports and promises to implement. Rathore declared that the BJP’s dictatorship would no longer be tolerated, and Congress would continue to raise its voice against it among the people.

Today’s protest saw the participation of State Congress President Pratibha Singh, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sanjay Awasthi, MLA Mohan Lal Brakta, Himuda Vice President Yashwant Chhajta, Shimla Municipal Corporation Mayor Surendra Chauhan, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, Councillors, former MLA Ram Lal Thakur, Gangaram Musafir, Adarsh Sood, Chiranji Lal, Sevadal Chief Anurag Sharma, Shimla City Congress President Jitendra Chaudhary, Executive President Anand Kaushal, APMC Shimla Kinnaur President Devanand Verma, State Congress officials, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, Block Presidents and Block Congress officials from various districts, Sevadal and department officials, and party workers.
