High reaches of Lahaul-Spiti Chamba, Kinnaur and Kullu experiences fresh snow
High reaches of Lahaul-Spiti Kinnaur, Chamba and Kullu experienced fresh snowfall on Tuesday disrupted vehicular traffic on all Weather Manali-AT-Keylong road. Superintendent of police LS, Manav Verma said that due to inclement weather locals & tourists are advised to be very cautious while traveling in the valley. He said that keeping in view the road condition (Between Atal Tunnel to Solang Nullah). Also keeping in consideration the black ice factor and slippery road on NH 03. All Locals and Pangi bound Vehicles are allowed ( Except Truck ) to travel from ATR – Solang – Nullah ( vice versa ) from 09:00 AM to 04:00 PM only without any restriction. Only four by four Tourist are allowed to travel from ATR – Solang – Nullah ( vice versa ) from 09:00 AM to 04:00 PM only till further orders. SP also urged owners of hotel and home stays to advise their guests to drive if necessary or avoid driving in inclement weather. He said that weather has become overcast in Atal Tunnel Rohtang of Lahaul Spiti and light snowfall has started at 3 pm on the higher hills. He said due to forecast of snowfall in Atal Tunnel Rohtang due to which all tourist vehicles have been stopped near Solang Nala. Only local vehicles of Lahaul Spiti and Pangi Valley are allowed to enter Lahaul Valley. All tourists are requested to move towards Manali at the earliest. Inclement weather also likely to disrupt roads and water supply in some places. Weather was partly cloudy in Kullu, Kinnaur, Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti this afternoon and light snowfall also occured at isolated places in the high reaches. Moreover biting coldwave are increased in the state and warning of extreme coldwave was issued in Una, Solan, Bilaspur and Hamirpur. Night temperature may dip below freezing point. Met Office forecast mainly dry weather till January 6 however fresh western disturbence would affect the normal life after January 7. Ornge weather alert having snowfall and rain was issued in part of Chamba district and yellow alert in part of Kangra, Chamba & Kullu district from January 7 to 9. Maximum temperature of Keylong was 1.4 degrees, Narkanda 4.5, Kufri 5.7, Kalpa , Dalhousie 7.8, Shimla and Manali 10.
