Heavy rainfall & cloudburst flooded Shalakhar Panchayat

Heavy rain and cloud burst wreaked havoc in Shalakhar Panchayat of Pooh blook of Tribal Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh on Monday evening. Panchayat Pardhan of Shalakhar Suman Lata Negi and BDC member Ram Gopal Negi Mahila Mandal President Dolma Negi, Ashok Negi, Ganga Ram Negi and Tashi Youngpal have appealed  the state government and district administration for help. Mr. Suman Lata Negi said that around 6:00 pm, suddenly a cloud burst in the upper part of the area. Due to this water level in the Pakte Nala, Dhunala, Denanala, Bus Stand Nala, Sharang Nala, Murtikyu Nala, Geep and Gautang Nalla flooded after a cloudburst and this has created panic in the panchayat. Flash flood buried many vehicle under the muck, rubble, while muddy waters flooded and damaged the house belonging.  The people of the area are also unable to reach a safe place due to the closure of the road of movement.  In view of this, the villagers have appealed to the disaster management, district administration and the state government to start rescue work.Vehicles parked outside the roads and houses were buried under the rubble due to the strong flow of water and debris. Apart from this, about six local water supply scheme including of Jal Shakti Department have been damaged. People are approaching ITBP and Disaster Management for help. Safety Chief and Dam Officer Nitin Gupta of Wangto power project said that 50 cumecs of water was released from Kadcham dam of district Kinnaur by opening 83 cumecs from radial gate and flushing gate at 5:30 pm on Monday. Last day also 100 cumecs of water was released. On the other hand, the water of the dam is being released for the last one month after the rains started. It has not caused any damage. He has appealed to the people not to go near the Sutlej river and inform others about the same.
