GSSS Jarwa children got training in hospitality in a two day workshop
The two-day workshop on tourism and hospitality organised for the students of class one and two of Government Senior Secondary School Jarwa at Manav Hill Resort near Haripurdhar concluded today. During this workshop, the students acquired practical knowledge of tourism and hospitality at Manav Hill Resort. During the two-day practical workshop organised for these students studying tourism business, the students were given practical knowledge of subjects related to tourism business such as cooking, catering, housekeeping, trekking, tent fitting and hygiene and cleanliness. During the night stay at Manav Hill Resort, the students participated in cultural activities like Sirmauri Naatis and Rasa dance and enjoyed musical programmes during the campfire at night in the resort. On the last day of this two-day workshop, a quiz competition was also organised for the students on Friday. In this competition, Archana Kumari, a student of class one of Government Senior Secondary School Jarwa, won the first prize while Kumari Shilpi, a student of class two of the same school, won the second prize. Kumari Ambika, a student of Class 1 of the school, won the third prize in the quiz competition. While addressing the students, Managing Director of Manav Hill Resort Melaram Sharma said that there are immense possibilities of tourism business in Himachal Pradesh and under this business, the youth can not only earn their livelihood through self-employment but can also provide employment to others. On this occasion, Vikram Thakur, Vocational Teacher of Senior Secondary School Jarwa, while giving information about various disciplines of tourism subject, said that due to the natural geographical landscapes of Himachal Pradesh, lakhs of tourists from all over the world come here in every season during the year and that is why there are immense possibilities of tourism business in this state. During the workshop, trekking experts Anil Rana and Praveen Thakur, who came from Haripurdhar, gave detailed information to the students about trekking along with the methods of setting up camping tents. During this workshop, apart from the school teachers Jyoti Thakur and Ved Prakash, Sevadaar Sumitra Devi also provided her support in maintaining discipline and proper system among the students during the workshop.
