Grand Preparations Underway for International Kullu Dussehra 2024

The International Kullu Dussehra, one of Himachal Pradesh’s most anticipated cultural events, is set to be more spectacular than ever this year. In a recent meeting chaired by Additional District Magistrate Ashwani Kumar, who also heads the International Kullu Dussehra Cultural Sub-Committee, plans were unveiled to make the festival, which runs from October 13 to October 20, a grand affair.

This year’s celebration will see cultural programs being held at two different venues. In addition to the historic Lal Chand Prarthi Art Center, a new stage will be set up at the exhibition ground. Events at this venue will run until 5:30 PM daily, ensuring that visitors have ample opportunity to soak in the rich cultural tapestry of the region.

Ashwani Kumar emphasized that the seven-day festival will feature an impressive lineup of cultural performances. Troupes from various countries, states across India, and districts within Himachal Pradesh, including Kullu itself, will participate. The evenings are set to be particularly mesmerizing, with cultural evenings featuring performances from renowned local artists and other well-known figures from across the state.

A key highlight of the festivities will be the cultural parade on the second day, which promises to be a visual feast. This parade will see participants donning traditional attire as they march through the streets, showcasing the diversity of cultures from around the world, India, and Himachal Pradesh.

The festival will culminate on October 20 with the Kullu Carnival. This event will be a true celebration of Kullu’s rich heritage, featuring cultural troupes and members of women’s committees from the district. The carnival will start at Rath Ground and conclude at the Lal Chand Prarthi Art Center.

Kumar also shared the vision to elevate Kullu Dussehra to an international level, with plans to brand and promote the festival’s cultural diversity and grandeur globally. The aim is to attract tourists from all corners of the world, making the event a truly global celebration.

The meeting also saw valuable contributions from Assistant Commissioner Shashi Pal Negi, District Revenue Officer Ganesh Thakur, and other key members of the Kullu Dussehra Cultural Sub-Committee, both from government and non-government sectors. Their inputs are set to make this year’s Dussehra a festival to remember.
