Grand Conclusion of Hindi Fortnight and Exhibition Inauguration at IIAS
The Indian Institute of Advanced Study hosted a remarkable exhibition on the occasion of the conclusion of Hindi Fortnight, which was inaugurated on 28th September 2024. The theme of the exhibition was “The Evolutionary Journey of the Script from Brahmi to Devanagari,” curated by Tagore Scholar Professor Om Prakash Sharma.
The exhibition was inaugurated by the institute’s secretary, Mr. Mehar Chand Negi, followed by an insightful lecture by Professor Sharma, in which he highlighted the historical development of the Devanagari script and its cultural significance. Scholars, officials, and staff attending the lecture appreciated the importance of the topic, and it was met with great admiration.
During Hindi Fortnight, the institute also organized various competitions, including dictation, extempore speaking, precis writing, vocabulary knowledge, essay writing, and poetry recitation. The results of these competitions were announced on the same occasion, where participants such as Mr. Akhilesh Pathak, Mr. Kesar Singh, Mr. Devendra Singh, Mr. Abhishek Dalvi, Mr. Deepak Sharma, Mr. Bhupendra Kashyap, Mrs. Gurjeet Kaur, and Mr. Gopal Singh won awards in various categories.
This event not only raised awareness of the Hindi language within the institute but also promoted cultural enrichment. Such events play a significant role in the institute’s overall development journey.
