Governor Shukla presents 68th Annual  AIAA Awards

While presiding over the closing ceremony of the 68th Annual All India Drama and Dance Competition organized by the All India Artist Association (AIAA) at the historic Kali Bari Hall in Shimla last evening, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said that art and artist play an important role in building the society.  He said that art is meant for living and it was an integral part of every person’s life.

 Appreciating AIAA efforts, the governor said that the association has done commendable work in the social and cultural sector through various events in the last six decades. He said that these endeavours not only give direction to society but it becomes a reason for inspiration for others. He said that the spirit with which this organization is working to strengthen national integration through art is admirable. He congratulated all the artists for their excellent performance.

The Governor said that dance and drama have always been an integral part of human civilization. “It is such a powerful form of expression in which there is no boundary of language. Rather, it effectively conveys feelings, stories and ideas where words fall short”, said Shri Shukla. He added that this form of art has the ability to bring us to different worlds, awaken deep emotions within us and broaden our imagination.

On the occasion, the Governor presented the Sudarshan Gaur Life Time Achievement Award to Prashant Bhagat, the Balraj Sahni Award to Lokinder Trivedi and Gopi Krishna National Award to Ashish Pillai and Meenu Chadha for their outstanding contribution in the field of art.

Rohitashv Gaur, President of All India Artist Association welcomed the Governor. He said that about 1000 artists from 20 states participated in this competition organized from June 6 to 10 in Shimla. He said that this organization came into existence in 1955 and since then many drama and dance competitions were being organized across the country through the association till date.

Dr. Rekha Gaur, Vice President of the Association honoured the Governor on the occasion.
