Governor inaugurates NZ inter-audit badminton tournament

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar inaugurated the North Zone Inter Audit Badminton Tournament organized here today at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex under the aegis of Indian Audit and Accounts the department.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor congratulated the organizers and extended best wishes to all the participating players. He hoped that they would perform to the best of their ability. He said that today, the country’s pride has increased at the international level due to its impressive performances in different sports competitions. The interest in sports has also increased among children and youth which was must for strengthening the culture of giving priority to healthy life.

“To make India a world-class sporting power, identification and transparent selection of talented sports persons living in remote areas of the country is crucial. For this, the existing sports infrastructure is being strengthened”, said the Governor.

Earlier, Chanda M. Pandit, Principal Accountant General (Audit) welcomed the Governor and said that an Audit Week was being celebrated from 21st to 27th November 2022 in the three offices of the Indian Audit and Accounts department at Shimla. This inter-departmental North Zone badminton tournament also forms part of the weeklong celebrations. She said that teams representing the offices of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh were participating in this tournament.

Manish Kumar, Director General, National Academy of Audit and Accounts, Sushil Kumar, Principal Accountant General (Accounts and Entitlement), Himachal Pradesh and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
