Government should handover the new building of Chail Koti soon: Dr. Tanwar
The government should hand over the new building of Degree College Chail Koti to the college administration soon so that classes can be held in the new building in the current session. This was stated by the State President of Himachal Pradesh Kisan Sabha, Dr. Kuldeep Tanwar, in a media statement issued on Tuesday after his visit to four Panchayats of Kasupanti constituency, namely Cheekar Satlai, Peeran, Koti and Darbhog. He said that a signature campaign has been launched in the entire Junga tehsil regarding the degree college so that the government hands over this college to the college administration soon.
Dr. Tanwar said that after a long struggle, a college was opened in the old primary school in Chail Koti in 2014. In which children of 12 panchayats of Junga area got the opportunity to receive higher education, but due to limited bus facilities, at present countless children are feeding animals at home after completing 12th. So far ten batches of Arts and Commerce have passed out from this college. While the construction work of this college building started in the year 2015, which took nine years to build and still some work is left.
Dr Tanwar said that science classes should be started in the new building so that children can get opportunities to progress in the field of science. He told that according to the report of the survey conducted in the year 2010, the average number of youth with higher education in Kasumpti constituency was only 04% whereas the state had 20% and Hamirpur had the highest average of 40%. He told that 9 senior secondary schools are functioning in 12 panchayats of Junga area, out of which science subjects are taught only in two schools Junga and Koti. Due to the absence of science subjects in other schools, the future of children of rural background is getting bleak.
Dr Tanwar has demanded from the government that Geography and Vocal Music subjects should also be started in Chail Koti College since most of the children in Koti Senior Secondary School are studying Geography. Apart from this, facilities should be provided to the youth of the area in the college library so that the youth of the village participating in various competitions can get the facility of library at their doorstep. Dr Tanwar says that there are only two buses to go to Koti. Just as light vehicles are being run by HRTC to carry passengers in Shimla and other areas, on the same lines, light vehicles should be run in this area as per the convenience of the children so that the youth of the rural area, especially girls, can get the facility of going to college.
