Giri river overflowing, floodgates of Jaton dam opened Administration sounds alert

Due to inceasent rain in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh since last two days, the most of river and tributaries are in spate, district administration sounded alert on the dien stream and cautioned people living on banks to not go near the water bodies.
District Deputy Commissioner and District Disaster Management Officer Ram Kumar Gautam said that due to rain and snowfall in Giripar areas, the water level of Giri river has increased. 
Threee gates of Jaton Dam have been opened as soon as the water reaches near the danger mark.
The water level of the Giri river tributary vof Yamuna  has increased due to increased and very heavy  rains and Snowfall in the high reaches and Transgiri areas.
 Water level rose above the threshold danger limit in  Jaton Dam around 1100 hrs on Sunday forcing and three flood gates of Jaton Dam have been opened.  
The district administration has also issued an alert  appealing people living on the banks of the Giri river not to go to the banks of the river and also to keep their animals away from the river for the next 48 hours. 
 The administration has issued a toll free (1077) number for assistance in any untoward incident or situation.
DC Sirmour also informed that an incident of Landslide occurred at RajbanPaonta Sahib District Sirmour at 1300 hrs on Sunday in which NH-707 was damaged and blocked forall kind of vehicular movement .
District Disaster management authority has requisitioned the NH Authority and an earth movers were deployed toclear the road and work was in progress .
Meanwhile Sangrah and Rajgarh Subdivision received major spell of Snowfall in Giripar, Churdhar and other high reaches in Siramaur district.
An Agriculture experts said good seasonal Snowfall is helped the farmer to maintain soil moisture level and increase productivity of Apple, peach and Rabi crops especially Garlic and Onion.
