Former AAG Anup Rattan elevates as AG of Himachal
Sukhwinder Sukhu government has appointed High Court lawyer Anup Ratna as Advocate General (AG) after formation of new Government in the state. In a late evening notification issued here last night Ministry of Home Affairs confirmed that Advocate Anup Ratna would replace Ashok Sharma from this post. He has been Additional Advocate General (AAG) under former Virbhadra government. In the former UPA-2 government, he has represented the Government of India in the Himachal High Court as Standing Counsel. Anup Ratna is a Law graduate from HP University (1998). He has been practicing in the High Court since 1999. He also served as legal correspondent for Hindustan times for ten yrs and other English dailies. Elevation Anup Ratna to this post was considered also forecast by media fraternity bring enormous experience in the field and being served as AAG earlier. To attain this elevation Anup proved as active member of HP high court bar as he remained in lime light during his illustrious career as he has filed many Public Interest Litigations (PILs) in the Court from time to time. In 2018, he has succeeded to rack up issue of Jogendranagar Civil Hospital before state top Court, which had ordered the posting of 11 out of 18 doctors within 6 months. His family background has been associated with law. Hails from Bharwai, Chintpurni in Una district, his father has also long time advocate in Amb city of Una. He has been very active in student politics in college-university. He has served in the state executive of NSUI for a long time along with Kewal Singh Pathania, MLA from Shahpur. He enjoys strong personal bound bound with Himachal Pradesh Chief minister Sukhwinder Sukhu being latter considers his political mentor.
