Forest clearance granted for Rajiv Gandhi dayboarding school in Nadaun

The Rajiv Gandhi Dayboarding School in Amlahad, Nadaun Assembly Constituency, has received forest clearance for approximately 2.8 hectares of land, allowing the project to move forward. The school, part of the Rajiv Gandhi Dayboarding School Scheme launched by the Himachal Pradesh Government, aims to provide top-tier education to children in rural areas.

In a significant development, the Union Ministry of Forest and Environment has granted approval for the transfer of the land to the state’s Education Department. The clearance was provided through an online process, and the Additional Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh has been formally informed via letter. The Divisional Forest Officer of Hamirpur, Nishant Mandotra, also confirmed this clearance.

With this approval, the process of transferring the land to the Education Department is expected to be completed smoothly. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, who represents the Nadaun Assembly Constituency, had directed officials to identify a suitable site for the Rajiv Gandhi Dayboarding School in the area. Following an extensive survey, a prime location in Amlahad was selected for the school, but construction could not proceed without forest clearance from the Central Ministry of Forest and Environment.

The Chief Minister played a key role in securing this approval by closely monitoring the case and ensuring that the necessary FCA documentation was prepared by the concerned officials. The state government’s initiative to establish a Rajiv Gandhi Dayboarding School in each assembly constituency is aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for children in rural regions. The Amlahad site will soon see the establishment of one such school, marking a significant step forward for the education sector in Nadaun.
