Five members appointed as government nominees to MC Shimla

Congress party which established a two-thirds majority in Shimla Municipal Corporation Election on May 4 would have 29 members in the civic bodies as five members were appointed by the state government here today.

A notification issued by Secretary Urban Development here said that  Ashwani Kumar Sood,   Gopal Sharma, S/o Lt.  Sh.  Shiv Ram Sharma, Vinod Kumar Bhatia, Smt.  Gitanjali Bhagra and  Raj Kumar Sharma are to be nominated Members of Shimla MC.

He said that in the exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section ( 3 – A ) of section 4 of the Himachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 1994, the Governor, of Himachal Pradesh nominate the above persons as members (government Nominee ) in the Municipal Corporation.

Nominated Members do not have voting rights in the division of votes however they could participate in the house meeting and in Shimla MC general house.

It is worthwhile to mention that Congress won a total of 24 seats in 34 member houses and BJP nine and CPI (M) one.

The first General House of the new MC is likely to be convened on May 28 the MC would have one meeting every month to discuss various resolutions.
