Farmers should increase their income by adopting mushroom farming
By adopting mushroom farming, farmers can boost their income and provide nutritious food for their families. This sentiment was expressed by Dr. Kamalsheel Negi, Deputy Director of the Horticulture Department, during an awareness program organized in Palampur on Mushroom Day, Tuesday.
On this occasion, Dr. Negi provided detailed information about the initiatives run by the Mushroom Development Department. He mentioned that the Horticulture Department also organized an exhibition showcasing various edible mushroom species. Over 100 farmers and mushroom growers participated in the event.
Dr. Sapan Thakur, a subject expert from the Zaika project, educated farmers about the utility and quality of shiitake mushrooms. Prior to this, Dr. Hitendra Patial, a specialist, informed the farmers about mushroom farming, its diseases, marketing, and obtaining bank assistance during the training camp.
Mushroom producers Dr. Sunil Kumar and Kisan Nardev shared their experiences with the farmers, encouraging them to adopt mushroom farming as a means of self-employment. The program also featured addresses from Garden Development Officer Dr. Rajesh Patial, Dr. Hitesh Thakur, Assistant Garden Development Officer Sanjay Mehta, Garden Transmission Officer Kiran Kumari, and Progressive Mushroom Producers Vinod and Surjit Kumar from Noorpur.
