Gaurav Kumar said that many cases of drug addiction have come to light in recent times. Recently a student died of Chitta overdose in NIT Hamirpur. In present times the trend of drug addiction is increasing rapidly. Due to this the youth here are being adversely affected. Drug addiction has taken root in the villages, cities, and educational institutions of Himachal, due to which many accidents and criminal activities are being seen in the state every day.

He said that the involvement of the youth of Himachal in drugs is a matter of concern and the Vidyarthi Parishad is going to form a committee to stop the increasing drug abuse in the entire state. Along with the workers of the Student Council, people from the Youth Club, Mahila Mandal, political and various other fields will be included in this committee. He said that if the state government also forms such a committee, then the Vidyarthi Parishad will stand shoulder to shoulder with the state government to stop the poison of drugs. He said that Vidyarthi Parishad demands that action should be taken against the growing drug mafia in the educational institutions of the state and the administration of educational institutions should be instructed to take strict action against drugs in their campuses and hostels. The police administration should take special steps and form a team for a de-addiction campaign. Vidyarthi Parishad requests every section of society to unite against drug addiction and cooperate in eliminating this poison from society.
