Emulating Delhi model : HP to launch incentive reforms for teachers
It seems that Himachal Pradesh Government is trying to learn something from ‘ Delhi AAP government model of Education’ as
Department took major decision to offer incentives to performing teachers. The sources in the department said that Teachers would now get increment based on the results of students in their respective classes and subject. The police is on the anvil to enhance salary of teachers who would give cent per cent or more than 80 percent results in their subject. The department claimed that idea is being under consideration for past two years which is now being finalized how much incentive should be given as increment for the performaning teachers. Source said that it could not taken finial decision to fix any criteria for the increment of Teachers. The current planning is being under active consideration by the department that who give more than 80 percent results would be given incremental gifts. However it is not certain if department would incorporated the idea in recruitment and promotion rules as it is mandatory for the state being employers to enhance salary of teachers on the basis of R and P rules but not on their performance. During the Covid pandemic the results of the students have also not been better because of online study. Now when hundred percent Educational Institutions are adopting off line classes the decision has also been taken by the department to boost the morale of the teachers. Especially the teachers who give better results of board classes will be given relief. Step is being taken by the Department as it found in, the survey has revealed that after two years of school closure that 50 percent of the students were weak in studies. Students are backward in important subjects like Maths, English, Political Science, Social Studies, Science. At present, the Education Department has prepared a proposal regarding this. After the approval of the government, instructions would be given to the districts. The state government decided to conduct studies in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 10th, 12th classes under the supervision of State Education board. In such a situation, the board has decided to improve the results of the classes, for this purpose such increment would motivate teacher to devote time and energy to perform beyond the means. District Deputy Director would send the record of best teachers from schools in the directorate. However, how many teachers would be shortlisted from each district, it is yet to be decided, he added.
