During MCC official caught red handed taking Rs 8k bribe
State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Baddi nabbed Sanjay Verma, Social Education and Block Planning Officer posted in Nalagarh BDO office in Solan district while taking a bribe of eight thousand rupees. SV&ACB SP Anjum Ara said that an FIR has been registered against Verma under Sec. 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the SV&ACB police station at Baddi. The SP said that the bribe was demanded on behalf of Verma in lieu of passing the bills of the complainant. These bills were for catering and tents. He said that the investigation of the matter is going on. According to vigilance sources, in the month of April-May, the contract for catering and tents was given to DJ Catering and Tent House of Nalagarh for the Jan Manch program of Jairam Sarkar. The contract was for seven to eight lakh rupees. According to sources, in lieu of payment of its bills, Sanjay Verma demanded a bribe of ten thousand rupees and the deal was settled for eight thousand.
The matter reached the Vigilance and Verma came to the washing center in Nalagarh to collect money and Vigilance caught him red handed today evening. It will be presented before the court i Solan tomorrow.
